Wedding photography should feel relaxed, natural and enjoyable. We want you to remember the moments, the people and the feeling of the day — not feeling awkward in front of a camera.
About us
Craig & Sarah
Hi, we’re Craig & Sarah and when we’re not doing one of the million other things that we do, we’re wedding photographers. We live in Dunedin on our own quarter acre paradise with our boys Toby & Ben and cat Miley. It’s a busy life but we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Craig photographed his first wedding way back in 2001 just before Art School and Sarah started shooting with him after they were married a few years later. We love weddings. There’s something addictive about being welcomed into people’s families on such a special day.
We understand wedding photography is not just about the photos — it’s an experience. You’ve got to enjoy the process otherwise you won't like the photos. We’re good at helping people feel relaxed, forget they’re being photographed, and enjoy the day.
Based in Dunedin, O'Neill Photographics photographs weddings throughout Otago, Queenstown, Wanaka and across New Zealand.

Questions
FAQ
Do you travel for weddings?
Yes. We’re based in Dunedin and photograph weddings around Otago and further afield.
What is your style?
Relaxed, natural, story-led wedding photography with a mix of beautiful portraits, candid moments and details.
What should I look for in a wedding photographer?
When choosing a wedding photographer, look beyond beautiful photos. Your photographer will spend more time with you on your wedding day than almost anyone else, so it's important to find someone whose personality puts you at ease. Look for consistent work across full weddings, not just a handful of highlight images, and choose someone with the experience to handle changing weather, difficult lighting, and unexpected moments. Most importantly, find a photographer whose style resonates with you and who can tell the story of your day in a way that feels genuine, natural, and timeless.
How does the copyright thing work?
I only work when I own the copyright to my own work. This allows me to use my work to advertise myself and enter into competitions. I license the images for you to use for whatever personal use you like, as long as you like. My only request is that if the images get published somewhere (magazine/blog) or used for something other than your own personal use (venue/florist/cake maker), I’d like to know about it first. We have strict rules surrounding the use of your wedding photos by other businesses that protect your privacy rights and ensure our quality standards are upheld.
How do I find a good wedding photographer in Dunedin?
Finding a great wedding photographer in Dunedin starts with looking for someone whose work consistently captures real moments, genuine emotion, and the unique beauty of the region. Don’t just look at a photographer’s best images on social media — ask to see full wedding galleries so you can see how they photograph an entire day, from getting ready through to the dance floor. Experience is important too, especially with Dunedin’s unpredictable weather, varied venues, and changing light. Most importantly, choose someone you feel comfortable with. The best wedding photos happen when you can relax, be yourselves, and trust your photographer to tell your story naturally.
How do we view our finished photos?
All Weddings include a USB of both high and low resolution photographs as well as being available for yourself, friends and family to view on our website in a password protected gallery.
How much does wedding photography cost in Dunedin?
With options starting from $1995 we have something for everyone. Get in touch and we'll send you our latest wedding info guide.
Do you require a deposit and when are the payments due?
A deposit of $500 is required upon booking. This secures the day for you and no one else could book that day. You don’t have to choose your photography package until the week before your wedding. This is when the balance of that package is due.
What questions should I ask a potential wedding photographer?
When meeting with a potential wedding photographer, ask to see full wedding galleries, not just highlight images, so you can judge the consistency of their work. Find out how they approach the day, how they handle family photos, difficult weather, and low-light situations, and what happens if something unexpected goes wrong. It's also worth asking about turnaround times, what's included in their packages, and how many weddings they've photographed. Most importantly, ask yourself whether you feel comfortable with them. A great photographer should not only create beautiful images but also help you feel relaxed and enjoy your wedding day.

Terms & Conditions
Here's the boring bits.... Please take the time to read these and feel free to ask us if you have any questions. These terms and conditions apply to all work undertaken by O'Neill Photographics. The Couple, upon paying a deposit of $500.00, will have booked O’Neill Photographics to provide photographic coverage of their Wedding on the date specified. No other paid photographic work shall be undertaken on that date without the prior approval of the couple. A collection from the relevant pricelist must be chosen before the wedding day with the full balance of that chosen collection being due before the Wedding day. When any photographic coverage of a wedding extends through dinner, we ask that you arrange with your caterer to provide us (photographer & assistant) with a light meal/snack. The couple acknowledge that due to the very individual and personal nature of a wedding, results cannot be guaranteed to be the same as any example viewed from the photographer. The photographer agrees to take all reasonable measures to achieve the couples wishes but due to a variety of uncontrollable elements such as weather, traffic delays and acts of god, results may vary. For any additional products and services, payment is required at the time of ordering. If the Wedding is cancelled by The Couple, all money paid shall be non-refundable and non-transferable unless another Wedding is contracted by the photographer for the same date, in which case the refund will be in full. If, due to uncontrollable circumstances, the photographer is unable to complete the services of the wedding, a replacement photographer will be sourced or all monies paid will be refunded in full, in which case O'Neill Photographics carries no further liability. Any credits resulting from the purchase of a photography collection will expire and must be used within 180 days from the date at which the gallery of your photos is created. O'Neill Photographics shall not be liable for any GST, tax or import duties when we send albums, prints or canvas prints overseas. Please check with the relevant authority in your country of residence. The Couple acknowledge that any commercial use (not covered above) of images created during the wedding is only permitted upon mutual agreement of The Couple and O’Neill Photographics. We have strict rules surrounding the use of your wedding photos by other businesses that protect your privacy rights and ensure our quality standards are upheld. For each and every violation of copyright The Client agrees to be liable for liquidated damages of $500.00 and liability for solicitor client costs of enforcement. The Couple's ownership of any albums or prints, comes into effect from the date of full payment for The Photographer's services and for the prints and albums in question. Any negatives and digital files are retained by O’Neill Photographics unless purchased by separate arrangement.
